The Turbinehal attracts the diverse and hard-working people of Rotterdam. After work, they come for a drink at the turbine hall. The facade is rough and industrial. A golden handle guides the way a burst of warmth shines through the door. The music of a trumpet flows around the room. Despite the crowds, an intimate table is always available. All tables centre the dancefloor, eagerly anticipating a performance or dance opportunity. The grand space is not overwhelming but unifying, as people are together again, drinking, laughing and most importantly, inspiring each other. After an enjoyable evening, the people of Rotterdam feel renewed with a happy heart and creative mind. The Turbiehal is a space for connection.
Once an electrical power station, the turbine hall has been transformed into an elegant art deco inspired lounge and bar. The monumental space is located in Delfshaven and attracts the diverse population of Rotterdam, particularly artists and filmmakers. The industrial entrance of the building is juxtaposed by the golden handle of a large concrete door. When entering the space, warmth fills the air. Golden lights reflect the walls and shine down onto the marble floor. The interior is highly detailed and curated from an art deco style. People enjoy the atmosphere and escape from ordinary life and encouraged to dress for the occasion. The Turbinehal allows for an immersive experience. The form of the building is truly united, with geometrical accents in the marble flooring. The furniture fits amongst the geometric pattern to form a perfectly symmetrical and mathematical alignment. Space possesses a landscape as the floors lower gradually towards the dance floor. The dance floor is located centrally, with soft LED lights accentuating the floor. Looking above is a grand rosewood coloured bar. Geometric stairs welcome guests.
